Hand and Wrist pain

Hand and wrist pain is something that can affect us all. Especially if you use your hands for your job or hobbies. It is especially common today, with all the computer and keyboard work we do.

Ankle and Foot Pain

If you look after your feet and ankles, they will look after you. Foot and ankle pain will work up your body to cause compensation patterns in your legs and especially your lower back (80% of us will suffer from lower back pain at some point, often the result of not paying attention to our feet, ankles and posture)

Did you know, humans are the only primates who are normally bipedal? (we stand on two legs.) This is due to an extra curve in our spines that stabilises our upright position. However, it makes us vulnerable to pain in the ankles, feet and heels. This can come from joints themselves, or from muscles and tendons around the joints. We can help discover the cause and develop a programme to treat and manage it.

Shoulder Pain

Your shoulder socket is very small compared to other ball-and-socket joints (i.e. your hips). It’s held together and controlled by a covering of muscles that are secured to the bones by strong cords called tendons, and this is one reason shoulders are susceptible to pain.

Common shoulder injuries include rotator ruff injuries, impingement and frozen shoulder. We can help speed up your recovery and reduce the chance or severity of ongoing issues so you can get back to doing this things you want to do.

Neck Pain

Neck pain is one of the most common conditions treated by osteopaths. Your neck is made up of vertebrae that extend from your skull to your upper torso. Cervical discs absorb shock between the bones. The bones, ligaments, and muscles of your neck support your head and allow for motion. Any abnormalities, inflammation, or injury can cause neck pain or stiffness. Many people experience neck pain or stiffness occasionally. In most cases, it’s due to poor posture or overuse. Sometimes, neck pain is caused by injury from a fall, contact sports or whiplash. Most of the time, neck pain isn’t a serious condition and can be relieved within a few days. At Active Health Osteo, we have the knowledge and ability to test, diagnose and manage these conditions and more. Book in with us today to get on the road to recovery.

Elbow Pain

Elbow pain can have causes that aren't due to an underlying disease. Examples include prolonged pressure or leaning on elbows, trying a new exercise such as tennis or golf, local trauma, desk work, or sprains or strains.

Most elbow pain is the result of Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI). We can help discover the cause, explain what is going on with your body and develop a programme to treat and manage it.

Knee Pain

Knee pain can range from acute to chronic conditions. Left untreated can lead to long-term problems – even surgery. We can assist you with manual treatment (including pre- and post-operative treatment) and with external referrals including imaging and specialist referrals as needed.

Hip Pain

This is an amazing example of bio-mechanics – the hip ball-and-socket joint (also the body's largest joint) fits together in a way that allows for fluid movement. Yet, despite its durability, the hip joint isn't indestructible. With age and use, the cartilage can wear down or become damaged. Muscles and tendons in the hip can get overused. Any of these conditions can lead to hip pain.

But you don’t need to let hip pain stop you! Hip pain is what got Kendyl into Osteopathy in the first place. After 5 years of struggling with hip pain, she saw an osteopath and was thrilled at how effective it was in helping manage her injury.

Hip pain affects many people and can decrease quality of life dramatically. We will not only treat the hip, but also the surrounding areas such as the knees and lower back, as these areas closely affect the biomechanics of the hip joints.

Back Pain

Did you know a staggering 80% of us will suffer from lower back pain in our lifetimes. For many, it is debilitating and on-going. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Conditions commonly linked to back pain include: Muscle or ligament strains, disc injuries (including herniated discs or “slipped discs”) and sciatica. Repeated heavy lifting or a sudden awkward movement can strain back muscles and spinal ligaments. If you're in poor physical condition, constant strain on your back can cause painful muscle spasms. Our osteopathic treatment is tailored to your individual needs to help you get the relief you seek.
